“And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country.  My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.“

For many Americans, the loss of President John F. Kennedy remains a seminal event - remembered as though it were just yesterday.  Some among these will tell you that their lives were forever changed - perhaps not so much by his passing per se, but by the resulting resonance to his words and deeds - an echo that lingers on.

Individual courage in the face of real or perceived danger, potential loss or hardship, a decision to stand by your values regardless of personal cost - these were the challenges to which President Kennedy called each of us to rise.  Many of our country's subsequent leaders, in business or in politics, have attributed many of their own accomplishments to the example modeled, and the challenges posed, by the late President, which they took to heart personally, and rose to willingly.  Are you among them?

Your Own Personal Legacy

Where some see a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier - retired to mothballs, destined for the scrap heap or the bottom of the sea - others among us see an American memorial to a most beloved President, John F. Kennedy, worthy not only of rescue and conservation, but of national prominence as a uniquely American Landmark dedicated to education, inspiration, and enlightenment.

While the legacy of President John F. Kennedy is well documented in intricate detail, how will his effect on your life be memorialized for future generations?  To make your feelings known, we encourage you to visit our “Tributes” page and post your thoughts for the world to see.  You may be surprised by your own words.

To turn your thoughts into meaningful and lasting action, we encourage you to consider a gift in a size commensurate with your feelings for the late President, the ship that bears his name and the courageous sailors who served on her.  Your name, and those of other significant donors like you, will be forever memorialized on the Museum's "Wall Of Honor," viewed by millions of museum-goers, including your grandchildren, and theirs.

Perhaps you would like to sponsor an interactive museum exhibit that would best portray an aspect of President Kennedy’s legacy to visitors from around the world.  Or maybe you would prefer to back the restoration of a specific area of the ship.  Regardless of your choice, your gift of $1 million or greater will ensure that this particular exhibit or area is named in your honor, including a high profile dedication ceremony and a handsome commemorative plaque on prominent display.

Planned Gifts

Our “Save The JFK - Planned Giving Program” allows you to assure your personal financial planning needs while providing the JFK CV-67 Memorial Foundation with important, long-term support.

Nothing contained herein should be considered as legal or financial advice, as the impact of alternative decisions will vary based on individual circumstances.  Only your personal financial advisor can clarify potential estate tax benefits of various gifting alternatives.

If you would like more detailed information about any of the options listed below, or others which might suit your needs, please submit a Contact Form so that we may contact you or call us at: (954) 563-0525.

Bequests

A provision in your will or living trust that directs a portion of your estate to a named beneficiary (such as the JFK CV-67 Memorial Foundation) is called a bequest.  A charitable bequest not only serves as a lasting tribute to our beloved former President, the ship that bears his name, and its courageous sailors but also qualifies your estate for a charitable deduction that can reduce estate tax liability.

There are several ways to make a bequest:  You can arrange to give the Foundation a specific monetary amount, a piece of property, or a percentage of your estate.  Residual and contingent bequests provide first for your family, and then, if circumstances permit, for the JFK CV-67 Memorial Foundation.

Real Estate

A gift of real estate is often an effective way to make a major gift to a charitable organization such as the JFK CV-67 Memorial Foundation, since the gift entitles the donor to an income tax deduction for the property's full appraised fair market value.

Almost any marketable real estate is suitable for a charitable gift, including personal residences, farms, commercial buildings, or undeveloped land.  While unencumbered property is preferable and generates the greatest tax benefit, alternatives in which you retain a life-estate in the property may also serve your personal need.

Retirement Assets

You may be discovering that you have accumulated an estate and retirement plan far in excess of anything you ever imagined possible.  Significant tax burdens can eat away at retirement plan assets when they are left outright to heirs.  Making a charitable gift of a portion of retirement assets may lessen the tax burden associated with such assets and supports the “Save The JFK” effort at the same time.
